Also called as Hypertension /HTN
Blood pressure is the lateral pressure exerted by the blood on the walls of arteries. It has two sets of readings namely systolic (when heart pumps the blood with each beat), diastolic( when the heart is at rest). Usually 120/80 mmHg is considered normal blood pressure. A systolic pressure =>140mmHg and diastolic pressure of =>90 mmHg is considered high blood pressure.
It is usually symptomless but can lead to stroke, heart diseases, bleeding from nose or other sites, kidney diseases, blindness etc if left uncontrolled.
In VCC Ayurveda, High Blood Pressure is much controlled by dietary and lifestyle modification. Internal medicines and therapies like Shirodhara, Takradhara, Abhyangam etc is prescribed which are found to be highly effective for Hypertension.
