Sciatica

Sciatica is a symptom of  problem caused mainly due to compression of sciatic nerve. This nerve originates from the lumbar spine and travels through lower back and provides innervations to muscles of buttocks, back of thigh, knee, and lower leg. If this nerve is impinged due to lumbar disc herniation or compression or fracture of pelvis, sciatica is manifested in the regions of its nerve supply. Pain, weakness, tingling sensations, numbness are the commonest symptoms associated with sciatica.
